Events to Mark the 200th Anniversary of the Death of Jane Austen

Jane Austen - a painting by her sister, Cassandra
Jane Austen died, prematurely, at the age of 41, 200 years ago in July 1817. She is buried in Winchester cathedral and, as you might expect, the life of one of our best-loved writers is being celebrated in various events and exhibitions. The permanent exhibition in Winchester is worth visiting if you are in the area. The Jane Austen Museum and resource centre is in the house built by her brother, in which she lived for eight years, in nearby Chawton.
